Metal Shred Guitar: Heavy Gallop Rhythms, Palm Muting & Precision Picking

The 16th-Note Gallop Rhythm (1-&-a 2-&-a)

The gallop rhythm consists of an 8th note followed by two 16th notes (Down - Down - Up picking motion) executed at high tempos with tight palm muting!

Finding the Palm Muting Sweet Spot

Rest the fleshy edge of your picking palm directly over the bridge saddles. Press too hard and notes go out of pitch; press too light and high-gain chugs sound loose!
