Mic Distance Technique: Controlling Dynamic Shifts On Stage

1. The 1-Inch to 6-Inch Distance Rule

Keep mic 1 inch from lips during soft crooning verses. Pull the mic back 4 to 6 inches during high-volume belted chorus climaxes to prevent audio clipping!

2. Holding the Mic at a 45-Degree Angle

Hold stage microphones at a 45-degree angle below your lower lip so air plosives (P & B sounds) blow PAST the mic capsule rather than directly into it.
